How to Leverage Ethical Review Practices to Boost Conversions by 270%

Karens, of the world, rejoice! Your voice is being heard. Whether it’s giving a 5 star review to your niece’s self-published novel or awarding only one star to the windchimes that you ordered because it turns out they did not save your marriage; product reviews matter.

82% of people read reviews before making a purchase online, and 97% of shoppers say reading product reviews on Amazon directly impacts their decisions. It’s a lot like speed dating. You have to weed through each review until you find someone who sounds rational and buy that one.

But sometimes, like in real speed dating, you end up disappointed and occasionally have to call the police.

Sifting through the myriad of reviews that read like they were written by someone taken hostage is work in and of itself. I will not be swayed to buy that lamp because it has “White light…my favorite!” as a review. Reviews like this can be easy to spot as fake because of the gross overuse of exclamation points and words like “delight”, but some sellers are adapting.

Other companies have been luring customers into their creepy vans by putting instructions in with products, asking them to leave a 5 star rating. It usually offers things like free products or gift cards. This makes the product review seem more legitimate and candid. Not only is this a breach of Amazon’s TOS, (and they could punish you big time!) but it seems like a waste of time and money. And, dare I say, gauche.

But reviews do matter. Amazon reviews can increase conversion rates by as much as 270%. If you’d like some more tips for how to get real, legal, and helpful Amazon reviews to boost your business, check out this article! We promise it will be a delight!
