How to leverage TikTok for product selection, marketing, and big jumps in sales

TikTok isn’t just for practicing weird dance routines and learning life hacks. I mean it is for me, and needless to say I am more-or-less a self-proclaimed professional dancer now. But for everyone else, it can make you the big bucks.

It’s probably (hopefully) not news to you that social media is a key marketing lever for ecommerce businesses. From there your mind probably goes straight to Facebook and Instagram. Don’t worry, mine does too, because I’m old as Gen Z was so quick to point out.

But TikTok is quickly becoming a marketer’s BFF, especially Amazon FBA Sellers. And the good news is, it’s still early. Make friends with it before it gets too cool to hang out with you, quick!

Don’t believe in the power of Gen Z’s latest social craze? Clearly you haven’t been briefed on TikTok leggings.

Now that you’re caught up and probably (hopefully) on board, there are a few ways to leverage TikTok for your future success:

  1. Create a profile for your business. Jungle Scout has broken down the why and how to set up your business on TikTok. Get those creative juices flowing and start building connections with your audience. Before long, you may even get some user-generated content (UGC) out of it.
  2. Leverage influencers. We’ve said this before and we’re saying it again. And this time we’ll say it with numbers: one Amazon third-party seller sold 10,000 units in one day thanks to a viral TikTok video. Can’t argue with that.
  3. Research your next product. According to up-and-coming 7-figure Amazon seller and coach Trevin Peterson, just searching hashtag Amazon finds on TikTok can reveal hundreds of videos filled with untapped seller potential.

So what are you waiting for? Time to start selling and making up dances because none of us are getting any younger. TikTok.
