How Amazon is Getting Tough on Counterfitters

Everyone loves true crime, but there’s nothing worse than ordering something from Amazon only to find out it’s a knockoff.

Counterfeits are a bummer and Amazon has no shortage of them. With almost half of Amazon’s sellers and products coming from China it’s easier for counterfeiters to evade the t-rex arms of American justice and attempt to sell knock-offs. Things like fake reviews and stolen logos  are just a few headaches presented to sellers, and Amazon is finally taking steps to help them fight back.

Amazon Project Zero and the Amazon Counterfeit Crime Unit may sound like cool action shows featuring tall women, but they are actually two ways that Amazon is helping sellers fight back against counterfeiters. Better late than never, right? Turns out that Amazon’s A-Team (or just A-Team for short) isn’t messing around.

Amazon has even shown willingness to sue counterfitters, which, if successful, could serve as a huge deterrent to those looking to profit off others’ brand identity. If not, I’m sure Dick Wolf would be interested in hearing more about Law and Order: ACCU.

Amazon’s proactive approach to brand protection is a relief to many sellers who can avoid pricing wars. Customers also benefit, and can develop trust in the products that they’re purchasing.

Finally! Time to say goodbye to my Abibas sneakers and Blowritos!
