Amazon sells nearly 400 million individual products. How should sellers choose what products to sell?
There are many obvious and striking similarities between FBA sellers and Whitney Houston; the most apparent being that both are constantly asking the question, “How will I know?”
In Amazon’s fiercely competitive and constantly growing marketplace, how will sellers know what products to sell in their stores?
Some people might have an incredible product idea, or feel passionate about certain types of products that they would like to sell. Others don’t care much about the product as long as they are making that paper, which may be a baller-ass move but is not the smartest business decision.
Either way, when you are searching for your next product, just think of our girl WHITNEY:
- Weight: Amazon’s pricing model goes by size and weight, so if it’s smaller (and lighter) than a bread box, you’ll avoid some fees.
- Hot key words: The top 2-4 key words should have roughly 100,000 searches for it each month.
- In Demand: Make sure your product hits that Goldilocks range – high enough demand, but low competition.
- Tolerable price: Choose a product that is within $25-$50 in price. Cover your costs, and attract impulse buyers like Kevin Costner in the Bodyguard! (Whitney is in that movie!)
- Not restricted: Make sure you are not selling any of Amazon’s restricted brands or they’ll sic Bobby Brown on you!
- Exceptional BSR: Check the items Best Sellers Rank to see its popularity among consumers.
- Y R U waiting: Start selling!
